Last week I was at the playground with some mom friends and my two-year-old son. We ran into a mother and her daughter. The mother quickly told us that her daughter was two but was not talking yet. She asked, “Should I be concerned?”
Since I have young children I typically hear this question in my social circles. The answer to this question is not easy, and many times parents are not ready for the answer. However, being screened or evaluated by a speech-language pathologist (SLP) should not be scary or intimidating. SLPs are there to help both you and your child decrease frustrations in communication. click here
So, when is it time to get a professional opinion about your child’s speech and language? If you find yourself checking many of these boxes go get screened by an ASHA certified speech-language pathologist.
